NewFields has been providing European businesses with practical and tactical environmental, engineering, and construction management solutions for over ten years. Following the completion of several large projects across the UK and Europe, NewFields opened the NewFields UK office in Leeds, in 2015. Since then, we have grown a strong UK-based consulting team, who are experienced in providing high-quality technical guidance and support for our clients, adding value to projects from start to finish.

Meet the Team

Alfio Mianzan
Engineering Geologist

Mr. Mianzan is an experienced environmental professional with >30 years in both the consulting and industry sectors where he has held a range of environmental, sustainability and geological management roles.  His expertise in primarily on contaminated land management, including the investigation, risk assessment, remediation, advocacy, communication, stakeholder and financial management of contaminated soil and groundwater issues. Mr. Mianzan has significant experience in supporting businesses to manage their environmental liabilities and due diligence activities. Other areas of expertise include water strategies and management, water use and effluent discharges risk assessments, and general environmental and sustainability issues with focus on the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. From 2012 to 2017 he was Vicechair of IPIECA’s water working group and a member of the Water Leadership Team in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

Mr. Mianzan holds a Masters of Science degree in Engineering Geology from Imperial College in London.


 
Diogo Gaspar, Ph.D.

Diogo is an Environmental Geologist and GIS Engineer with NewFields UK with over 15 years of experience in environmental characterisation and analysis for Environmental Impact Assessments and environmental management in projects in Europe and Brazil. His expertise is in brownfield regeneration, environmental management, project management and GIS data processing and analysis. Additional experience includes stratigraphy, structural geology and tectonics applied to Oil & Gas exploration.

Diogo has extensive experience in the public and private sectors, and has worked on a wide range of projects within the UK including contaminated land remediation projects and utility and infrastructure projects.

Diogo is a Portuguese native and he is a Doctor of Philosophy in Sedimentary Basin Analysis with a Master’s in Geodynamics and licentiate’s degree in Geology and is fluent in English and Portuguese and has working proficiency French and Spanish.
