Toxicology and human health impacts of industrial emissions, Bulgaria and Namibia, for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

The overall objective of the project was to assist the Bank in the assessment of potential health impacts of two industrial projects. The work included a review of projects specific heavy metal emissions  and its potential health impacts on workers and community. This was carried out by a review of existing health impact assessments environmental impact statements, site visits and inspections, the application of biokinetic modelling for metals and assessment of potential exposure.

The project provided the Bank with the necessary information to allow its loan approvals. Both projects were awarded with EBRD environmental awards.
